Suction, surfaces, fit, shipping, warranty and returns.
How long does the suction last?
Each vacuum cup goes through a 48 hour suction test from our manufacturer, plus more testing once we receive it. When driving, check the cups every time you stop for gas or a break. Done that way, even a cross country move (one customer has done it) is no issue. Keeping the cups and the car surface clean goes a long way.
How strong are the vacuum cups?
The cups are industrial grade, rated about 200 lb of vertical and lateral grip each. Eight cups give over 1600 lb of combined pull strength, far more than anyone will need, and the rubber is gentle on your roof and paint without leaving marks.
What surfaces do the cups work on?
Smooth surfaces without deep pores: glass (including Tesla roofs), fiberglass, car paint and smooth plastic. The STAG Rack attaches to the roof or rear window.
Can I use it on a wrapped car?
We do not recommend placing the cups on wrapped cars, because the pressure from the cups could in theory cause bubbling.
How many skis and snowboards fit?
The ski attachment holds 4 snowboards or 4 pairs of skis. It has enough clearance between the clamps and the roof for nearly all types of bindings when the board or ski is upside down.
How do I use the rack after a day of skiing?
If you park in icy conditions, bring de-icing spray. Spray where the cups were placed, wipe off snow and moisture after your day on the hill, then apply the rack as normal. A clean surface makes the tightest seal, and warming the cups before application helps them grip.
What kind of bikes fit?
The bike attachment holds two bikes and works with 9mm quick release and 15x100, 15x110 and 12x100 thru axles. If your bike has another axle size, email team@stagrack.com and we will tell you what works.
Will there be more attachments, like kayak and cargo?
We are working on them and will release them as we have the bandwidth. The base unit works with all future attachments, so you do not need to wait if you like a current one.
How fast can I drive with the rack?
We cannot legally endorse going over posted speed limits. We have driven the rack far above the limit (100+ MPH) on a closed course for testing, and it held up.
Does the rack lock to my car?
We are developing a way to lock the rack to the car. The rack goes on and off in about 30 seconds, so when you are not using it we recommend taking it off. You keep your car's looks and your fuel economy.
What is the warranty?
One year against manufacturing defects on anything we send. If something happens to your rack, email team@stagrack.com and we will work with you to make it right.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. The rack has been sold in 9 countries. We cannot offer free shipping internationally because of cost, but email us and we will find the cheapest option.
What is the return policy?
Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery for unused items in original packaging with proof of purchase. Email team@stagrack.com to start a return before sending anything back.
Do I need a base unit with every attachment?
Yes, every attachment needs a STAG Base Unit, and you only need one. The bundles include a base unit. Buy a second base only if you want to use attachments on two cars at once.
How long does installation take?
Under 2 minutes. Wipe the roof and cups clean, press the base unit down, lock the Secure-Lock handles and click on your attachment. Removal takes about 30 seconds.
Do I need roof rails or crossbars?
No. The STAG Rack holds to the roof or rear window with vacuum cups, so it needs no bolts, no rails and no crossbars.
